Notice of Public Hearing on Increasing Property Taxes

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that on 2024年5月13日, at 6:30 p.m. on the Central Campus of 杰克逊 College, 2111 Emmons Road, 杰克逊, MI 49201, in the Boardroom on the 2nd Floor of the 乔治·E. Potter Center, the Board of Trustees of 杰克逊 College will hold a public hearing to consider the district’s proposed 2024-2025 budget.

董事会可以 not adopt its proposed 2024-2025 budget until after the public hearing. A copy of the proposed 2024-2025 budget including the proposed property tax millage rate is available for public inspection electronically and can be obtained by reaching out to Keith Everett Book at bookkeithe@3600151.com.

The property tax millage rate proposed to be levied to support the proposed budget will be a subject of this hearing. This notice is given by order of the Board of Trustees.

会议 of the Board of Trustees are open to the public. Citizens who wish to present any matter of concern to the College shall make a written request to the Assistant Secretary to the Board of Trustees on the Speaker Request Form prior to the meeting.  董事会可以, in case of emergency, by majority vote, give visitors who have not presented a written request an opportunity to present matters of concern to the Board. The Chairperson shall allot a visitor, at the appropriate time, not more than five (5) minutes, unless the time is increased or decreased by a majority of the Board.

    Comments from the public

    Please follow these guidelines before the 杰克逊 College Board of Trustees:

    • Each speaker is limited up to five minutes during the Citizen Comment portion of the meeting.
    • During public hearings, the 杰克逊 College board may enact a time limit on all speakers to ensure that all present get an equal chance to speak.
    • Each speaker shall be polite and courteous at all times. While any speaker is free to express his or her opinion on any subject, no speaker may curse, direct personal insults at any member of the board or staff, use obscene language while addressing the board or engage in disruptive or disorderly behavior during a board meeting.
    • Should the chairperson determine that any of the items listed in item number 3 above occur, the chairperson may declare the speaker out of order.
    • If a speaker is declared out of order by the chairperson and refuses to cease and desist from disruptive or disorderly conduct, the chairperson may order the individual removed from the meeting.
